Somethings Fishy!
Fishy is one of the new offerings from Uglydoll in the 2013 line-up. There are so many new Uglydolls I can't keep up any more. But Fishy hooked me!
He has old school charm with stylish toned down colors, white eyes, and brownish red nose. That is SO classic Uglydoll. Add to that his totally modern big feet and long uppy arms and he's a Big Fish in the Ugly Sea!
Adoption is in the works, so check back soon for a report on his softness and huggability. I expect high marks.
Welcome from the Ugly Shire!

Dr. Max's Prescription for Happiness
Dr. Max Abima here with another prescription for happiness.
Spend time with friends. Make some new ones. Appreciate the differences. Be ready for something wonderful to come from a place you never expected.
If you're red and one foot tall, celebrate it.
If you're a 6 foot and bony, celebrate it.
In general, see the best in everyone!

Sun-Min Sunday #2--Andrewshire Wedgehead
Welcome to Sun-Min Sunday #2. Today's featured Uglydoll handmade by Sun-Min is Wedgehead made for the Andrewshire Show in 2005. He is one of the nicest fellows you'd ever hope to meet.
He likes to collect marbles. When asked how many he has in his collection he said "zero". Guess what I'm shopping for this week!
Of all of David Horvath's amazing creations, Wedgehead is one of my top faves. No matter the color or size, he'll wedge his way into your heart. Count on it.
I am so grateful to the Uglydoll families who have allowed me to adopt these darlings. You know who you are!

Sunny Snowflake
This little girl almost missed the pageant. We could not find her tiara and she didn't want to go without it.
A family effort with the help of our Secret Mission Uglydoll Unit recovered it just in time.
We call her Sunny Snowflake. And today she's the Princess of all Uglydom.
Adopt your own princess here.
Thanks to Chabot for inspiring us with the Uglydoll Supermodel contest.

Happy Thanksgiving
Fea Bea says "Happy Thanksgiving Pilgrim, from all our Ugly Family to yours". (Feabs has been watching a lot of John Wayne lately.)
We had a contest to choose who would wear the Pilgrim Hat and represent our family for the day. It was a tough call. Dozens tried out. Our three finalists were Uglyworm, Glowbee (Critterbox GID Ice-bat), and Fea Bea. Ice-bats natural charm and good looks nearly nailed it, but Fea Bea's enthusiasm and riveting John Wayne imitation hauled in the win.
Hope your Thanksgiving was filled with friends, good food and snacks, happy Uglydolls, and love. But if you'd like to be just a little happier....hit yourself with the Ugly Stick! Works every time.

Wippy Express
The Wippy Express arrived today, and Wippy brought his friend Big Toe.
Big Toe doesn't know it yet, but he has lots of family waiting to greet him. Our other Big Toe's from the Big Toe Collection have been counting the days till his arrival, and planned a surprise welcome bash. Of course Wippy will join right in. You can see he is that kind of guy. Wippy's "got your back", and sometimes having someone's back means attending a party!
==============
Yellow Big Toe is from the Uglydoll Big Toe Collection and is a Limited Edition. He only comes in the Classic size.
Wippy comes in all four Ugly sizes.
Warning: These two are extraordinarily charming and cute. Be prepared to deal with it!

Don't know the question, but WIPPY'S the answer
WIPPY's the answer.
He's new, he available, and ready to step up.
See what his card says!
"Dude, like seriously for real, Wippy is looking out for you. Every time you see Wippy you might as well shout out “Good lookin’ out!”, because he probably did something remarkable for you without you even being aware of it! In fact, most the time... you’ll swear Wippy’s done absolutely nothing for you. That’s how stealth his awesome forces of assistance is. For real though! Remember that time you were all depressed and wondering when things were going to turn around? I know, huh. Anyway, Wippy’s got you."
I need a real big Wippy hug right now.
Wippy's gonna be a busy boy around my house. He'll love it here.

The Big Toe Collection 2010 Limited Edition

Which is your favorite flavor of Big Toe? So far I'm torn between the green on the bottom left, and the one next to him in the middle. We have a debate in progress over just what color that is. Three votes for orange so far. I say it's not orange. Can "not orange" be considered a color? So far, "not orange" is one of my top two picks for adoption. I think his color along with the simple black nose and light eyes are an understatement that says "Classy" without screaming it. Note: You cannot BE classy while screaming about it.
The green fellow with yellow eyes is also classy, in a Clark Gable sort of way. He's coming home for sure.
All of these gorgeous Big Toe variations rock the Uglyverse. They are due out in April.

Uglydolls 2010

I made a little collage of the Uglydoll line-up for 2010. So far, Pointy Max (bottom left) and Picksey (on his right) have been released.
You can get them from the Official Uglydoll Store linked on the sidebar of this blog.
The blue fellow is Ket. He has some great handlebar ears that didn't fit in the collage.
He is like the Pink Kitson Ket in an earlier post, only blue!
When I get reliable release dates, or even semi-reliable rumors, I'll post them.
Who they are: Top row, left to right: Wippy, Nandy Bear, Ket.
Middle row: Batty Shogun, Cozy Monster.
Bottom row: Pointy Max, Picksey, Mynus

Uglydogs Blue New Year's Eve

This is Bluedog and his friend, Buzzbee. Bluedog is a classic sized Uglydoll Uglydog, not to be confused with a bluedog democrat.
This New Year's Eve Bluedog is planning his Blue Moon New Year's Eve gathering to ring in the new year and to celebrate the Blue Moon that occurs on New Year's Eve only once every 19 years. His next Blue Moon party is scheduled for New Year's in 2028. And you're invited!
Mrs. Kasoogi tells him the moon will not be blue, but rather is the second full moon in a month. Bluedog doesn't care. He's knows blue can strike where you least expect it.
If the moons not blue, he won't be disappointed because he will be with his friends and family and plans to shine so bright blue himself that no one will miss the moon.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to All Our Friends!
---------------------------
If you would like to adopt your own Blue Uglydog, head on over to the Offical Uglydoll store link on the sidebar of this blog. There's a sweet fellow waiting there for you.

New Uglies for the Holidays

We welcomed a lovely new group of Uglydolls into our ever-expanding happy family. Pictured here from left to right are Wedgehead "Nevada Cat", Little Blue Ox, Suntan Target, Two Foot Fea Bea, Green Pointy Max "Chris", and Plunko "Sunny".
In front of Suntan Target is a set of Uma Series 5 from Giant Robot that I've been wanting for months, and I was fortunate to receive for Christmas!
The biggest surprise in this group was Green Pointy Max. Receiving him was one of the highlights of my life. . He was on my front porch when I came home inside a box inside a big white Santa-style bag. When I opened it and saw that face I was filled with joy.
He is an expression of the generosity and kindness of those who gave him to me, and one that I will treasure always.
This was the best Solstice / Christmas I've ever had, and Green Pointy Max helped push it over the top. You know, I think I'll go hug him now!
----------------------------------------
Want your own? All of these amazing goodies are available, or soon will be. Check Giant Robot for the Uma and also for Uglydoll plush. Of course the Official Uglydoll Store has all the current Uglydoll lineup. If you want Uma, I suggest a purchase sooner than later. They've been around awhile and could disappear from the shelves any day now.

Uglydoll Solstice Fun
Many of you will recognize our Dr. Max Abima in his clever Holiday disguise. He delights in making people smile. For Solstice he accomplished that goal in the local Starbucks. Who could look at that face and not feel the love?
Always the fashionable Ugly, he wore a nice set of Gama-Go buttons.
After meet and greets at Starbucks, we all headed to downtown Olympia to visit our local toy shop, Wind Up Here. We planned to browse and hug our way through the piles of Uglydolls and perhaps add to our family.
Mission accomplished: Meet Plunko.

We did adopt, but it didn't go exactly as we'd imagined. Plunko here was the ONLY Classic sized Uglydoll left in Olympia. He caught my eye through the big picture window in the storefront, and had me at hello. I adore him, and feel so very grateful to have found him. He immediately offered to help me set up an online business in my spare time, so this guy is a go-getter. I could use a little more getter in my go.
The staff at the toy store were so kind and helpful and made us feel welcome They even wound up robots for us to enjoy. One employee was especially fond of Uglies and had a handmade name tag with Uglydoll pics on it.
Our Little Wedgehead "Jammer"
One of the highlights of our day was watching the expression on people's faces as they looked over the few remaining Uglydolls at Wind Up Here. Their eyes would go all dreamy, they'd sigh and smile, or laugh. We saw two Little Uglies get adopted as we waited, a Little Trucko and Little Wage. Uglies just warm the heart.
I was impressed with those nifty metal robots in the store. They wind up and walk. One called Chief Robot has a light that flickers in his chest while he walks. I foresee a metal robot collection in Dr. Max's future to go along with his button collection and Steven the Bat collection and.......
Happy Solstice Everyone!

Small Packages = Good Things
There is a saying, "
Good things come in small packages".
Saying tested and verified. VERY good things come in small pages.
In this case it's Uglydoll Turny Burny. I admit I was concerned for the well-being of his amazing ears. Not to mention the rest of him. It looked like a mighty tight squeeze to me. But the ole Ugly magic was with him and he puffed right up to be one of the biggest standard sized Uglydolls I've ever seen.
In fact, I've been thinking all the new 2009 Uglydolls are on the hefty side. Not a complaint in the least. Merely an observation. They're wider, taller, and seem to have hit the cookie jackpot, twice. Finally, a doll that looks like ME. Well, I'm not so tall...but the rest of it fits.
Coming tomorrow: The flip side of Turny Burny.
Coming up soon: The Big Kahuna of Uglydom....the new First Mate Trunko. Now that's a substantial Ugly.
Also coming: Tracking down the elusive Uglydoll Zipper Pulls. Mr. and Mrs. Kasoogi investigate.
_____________
Very good news if you want your own small box of big fun. Turny Burny is a retail release, and widely available for adoption. Google Turny Burny, or contact a local toy shop. You can also adopt him in four sizes! All four! Or in black and white. Or both. That's eight! You can get one just like mine for a mere 20.00. He'd spend it on you!
Check the Official Uglydoll Store linked down the side of my blog.

Happy Hat Day

Uglydoll Calendars shows August 1st is Hat Day, so the Uglydolls dug into the closets and searched under the beds for their favorite hats.
After the important activities of eating, nibbling, sipping juice, and dessert, I was able to gather them all up for a group photo.
Here they are, wishing you all the Happiest of Hat Days, and many more. More days and more hats!

Ice Bat Shock and Awe

Opening a box of new adoptees is always a new experience. No two Uglydoll's are alike. Usually there's the first lovely moments of squeezing and cooing. Then the collectors eye takes over for the closer inspection and appreciation.
But seeing our newest Ice Bat was a shocker. I mean, LOOK at those teeth. My mind scurried for an explanation.
The only teeth I'd ever seen sorta like these were on a handmade Ice Bat sewn by Sun-Min Kim. Could it be? That would be the BEST possible luck I've ever had. I don't usually win anything. I have the Uglies I have by numerous means, none of it luck.
My heart didn't have time to leap before my hand touched the hang tag and I knew it wasn't a handmade. They don't come with tush tags or hang tags. They have what I call the umbilical loop. That's a little loop of thread Sun-Min puts on them for display.
So what then? A fake? I hugged the poor thing and told him IF he was a zombie (a fake Uglydoll) I would still love and care for him. But man, if that's a fake, we all said, that's a REALLY good one. Great stitching, cute as a button, and perfect tags.
The suspense was heavy when I snapped a picture and sent it off to Uglydoll creator, David Horvath. He very kindly transformed our angst into joy by telling us that only a few of this style Ice Bat were produced, and that our boy is "pretty rare". Now if you are a collector, you know the emotion those words produce. Our family danced with joy, then sat staring in AWE at our new family member.
We also sent a pic to our Ugly friend Dean. He is one of the only other people I know who could shed light on this stranger. He said he'd seen one like this some years ago at FAO Schwartz. So with this piece to the puzzle, we think we probably lucked into one of those. (Thanks Dean !)
Yes, LUCK finally visited ME. And not just random luck, but personally tailored to me kind of luck. It is a sweet feeling indeed. I'm grateful for the visit, luck. Come any time!
_____________
Upcoming post: Our Ugly family spent the week of Ugly Independence Day, July 8th, on a fact finding mission as to the origins of Ugly Independence Day. What came before Ugly Independence? Our expedition was lead by Mr. and Mrs. Kasoogi. So check back soon to find what we discovered!

Mr. Yamada has arrived!

Mr. Yamada is here, after traveling all the way from the State of Maryland. We'd planned a big shebang to welcome him. But before he could get all the way out of his travel envelope our Abima Milton grabbed him up and has not let go. Here you see Milty, with his red arms wrapped tightly around his new esteemed friend. We've not heard one note of complaint in Mr. Yamada's tune. He seems perfectly suited to being worshiped and adored.
Mr. Yamada is a handmade plush toy limited to the one you see here. Now that's limited! He's the creation of the artist, Digitalized, and is his first venture into plush.
How did our Big Uglydoll Family happen to luck upon the Mr.? It was by chance. I'd say we rarely if ever win anything. But when we do, it's a lollapalooza. We won the chance to purchase Mr. in a raffle on the blog of the artist who made him.
Digitalized not only sent us Mr. Yamada, but also surprised us with several of his original drawings. Even the envelope Mr. arrived in was adorned with original art. Way cool. Of course we will be keeping any and all art, including the envelope.
Mr. Y's hang tag is also hand drawn, signed, and includes a little story of Mr. Yamada I will share with you.
"This one of a kind Mr. is lonely. Why? He doesn't have his suit case! See that long gap in his arms? Just waiting for a suit case..."
With Abima Milty to distract and entertain him, the days will fly by until his luggage catches up with him.
Our thanks to Digitalized for the awesome, one-of-a-kind, never seen before or again, Mr. Yamada.

Turny Burny Uglydolls Are Out

My sources tell me that the much anticipated Turny Burny Uglydoll is poking his head up here and there in local stores. I can hardly wait to get mine. He's still a pre-order on most web stores, meaning you can put him in your cart and buy him, but they don't have him yet . However, a couple of ebay sellers appear to actually have Turny Burny in hand. Emphasis on appear. So that means he is rolling, floating, or flying to your local toy store right about now.
He's a two-sided Uglydoll in the spirit of Bop N Beep. You don't get two separate dolls like some people think. But in a way, you do. Just flip him.
Look at those amazing hands. Or are those flippers? You make the call. Love the whirlly curly ears. Or are those antenna? Or horns? Again, you make the call.
I like him a LOT. Once I meet him, it will be love.
He'll be offered in all four Uglydoll sizes:
- Clip-on (roughly 4"),
- Little Ugly 7",
- Classic Ugly 12-14",
- 2 foot Ugly (24" for those who missed that day in math).
- Prices usually range from 6.00 to 50.00. Depending on the size of your need and your wallet you can pick the Turny Burny that is just right for you. Some savvy shopping will often yeild some discounts, such as reduced price, free shipping, bonus points toward other purchases etc.
BIG NOTE: Turny Burny also comes in a Black and White flip version. The white side has some very appealing red eyes.

Award Winners Winkolina and Trunko

It's official. Winkolina and Trunko win Parents Choice Award 2009! Woot. Woot. This is big.
Our Winkolina's wasted no time in stepping into their new role as award winning stars of plushdom. It's been a dizzy day of photo ops, interviews, and snacks. Trunko was delayed in travel and missed the photo set, so the Winkie's saved his snacks for him. In their tummies.
Being a proud Mommie of Winkolina's myself, I can only imagine how pleased Uglydoll creators David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim must be with this award. They are again to be congratulated for redefining plain and Ugly and transforming them into award winning qualities.
In in the midst of fun and festivites the question remains, however, on the minds of many. What about The Kasoogi's? Why were they passed over for this award? Were they even nominated? Were they ROBBED?
Mr. and Mrs. Kasoogi are unconcerned with such trivialities. They are thrilled for their fellow Uglydolls. An award for one is an award for all!
But still, the question will linger for those of us who love and admire The Kasoogi's. Maybe I need to be hit with the Ugly Stick!
Whack. That's better.
Want your own award winning Uglydoll? Click here to go to the Uglydoll Store. Winkolina and Trunko come in 4 sizes: Clip-on, Little Ugly, Classic Ugly 14", and 2 foot Ugly. There's one for every lifestyle.

Ghost and the Machine or Radio Wage
Ghost and the Machine, or Radio Wage.
Uglydoll Wage was assigned the task of emergency preparedness, a job he takes very seriously. First he stocked up on cookies, yummies, and container fruit juice. Babo is very relieved.
Wage then began to assemble the second tier of necessities. The little white Eton Emergency Radio is his newest arrival, and his personal pride. He chose well. This radio runs on several power sources: an AC adaptor, AA batteries, a rechargeable battery, and Wages favorite, the Hand Crank! The radio can run on the hand crank alone, or crank it to charge the battery. You can see Ice Bat and Plunko lined up for a turn on the Hand Crank.
The fun doesn't stop there. Wage's radio also has a built-in flash light on the side, can receive AM, FM, Weather Emergency channels, charge a cell phone, AND........it has a SIREN! Of course he's delighted.
Want your own Emergency Preparedness Manager? Get WAGE here.
Want your own Little White Super Radio? Get it here. Currently 20.00 off retail. That Wage is a shrewd shopper.
When asked what HE liked so much about the radio, Ugly Ghost didn't reply. I think it's a spiritual connection.
