Max's Christmas Tree

I heard a rustle in the living room and slipped in to find Dr. Max decorating his Christmas tree.  He let me grab one preview shot, but I'll have to come back later to get the full effect.

Max honors all traditions, so I won't be surprised to find some Solstice and Hanukkah decor around the room as well.

Happy Holiday of your choice from Dr. Max and the Ugly Shire.

Lucky Ucky Just a Bucky

Lucky Ucky's are here and ready to slip into your pocket or bag and go along for the ride, the walk, the movie, school, or space launch.  You name it, there is a Lucky Ucky just right for the job.

If you buy the complete set pictured, you get them for just over a buck each.  I even "lucked" into a few of them for .79 cents at a local Part City.

About Party City. There is a special Party City exclusive green set of Lucky Ucky's you will not get in the set of 60.  So if you're a collector like I am, get busy on the greens.  And good luck.

Party City calls them Uglydoll Figurines, and they don't come carded, but they are in a little individual see through wrapper.
Some of them stand on their own, while others topple over. The antidote for the Lucky Ucky wobble can be something as simple as museum putty, or as creative as little Fimo stands handcrafted to fit.  I'm opting for the Fimo. (Fimo is a brand name for polymer clay)

I find my Uglydolls love collecting little figures of themselves, so be prepared to share.

Here's a little history tidbit on the origin of Lucky Uckys.

"The inspiration for the Uglydoll LUCKY UCKYS came to Sun-Min and David while roaming the streets of Nakano in Tokyo, Japan as they were searching for old toys and rare collectibles. They imagined spirit guides helping them seek out the rarest hidden treasures and soon after that day, the LUCKY UCKYS were born. We hope you enjoy!"

And here is the link to buy them.
A wise person once said to grab them fast, because they won't be available for long.

Sidd tested, and Dr. Max approved!  These are great!

Friends are the Best

Virgil brought his wee Wage friend January along for the day.  January is having such a good time watching, meeting, and greeting that he may become a constant companion.  Virgil admires January's natural flow with people, who seem more likely to speak to wee Wage than Virgil. It's a curiosity, when you consider  the massive charms of the Abima family.

Make Room for Uglydoll x Funko

Make room on your Uglydoll collectible shelves. Uglydoll and Funko got together and made these funky, funny, squat little figures of our favorite characters, Wage, Ox, Babo, Ice-bat, and Batty Shogun.

Once again, following the Ugly Brick Road has lead me to a new experience in toys. I'd never heard of Funko, but now that Uglydoll has joined the line-up, I may have to pick up some of their other amazing pieces. Funko has a nicely endowed website with a Forum of devoted fans and collectors.  Some were unaware of Uglydoll, and I was unaware of Funko, so we'll all have loads of newness to enjoy.

Cool looking window boxes make these just that much more desirable.
Mr. and Mrs. Kasoogi's investigative work on the Funko site makes me suspect these will be 3.75 inches tall and somewhere between 7-12 bucks each, with possible articulation. They are part of their Pop Vinyl collection along with Micky House,  V for Vendetta figure, Tinker Bell and more. Sweet!

My next investigative task is to discover a release date.

A Moment Between Friends

Little bits of magic happen all the time.  It happened for these two best friends many years ago when they first met.  It happened again when they came to live with us in their forever home.

And it happened again tonight when Wedgehead found you could connect Halloween with Christmas using a simple plug!

These two old friends know how to live. They know how to enjoy a moment, how so share it, and how precious it is. It's all in the connections.

Here's Hopin

Here's hoping today's outing ends better than the last!

On the Hunt

It's a rainy day in the Ugly Shire. Dr. Max Abima is putting on his rain gear.  He's leading a quest to the local Toys R Us to try to find FAO Holiday Uglydog for our friends overseas!  Wish us luck. It's a serious mission. Check back here for quest results and photos.

FAO Uglydog now available!

All Uglydolls are wonderful.  Some are extraordinary. This Uglydoll FAO Exclusive is EXTRAORDINARY!  He sports a colorful, soft neck warmer reminiscent of  the neck warmers on a couple of early handmade Uglydolls Sun-min Kim made long ago. I always wanted an Ugly with a neck warmer, and now I'll have one! And look at the rainbow teeth and sky blue eye. Now that's Hollywood good looks.

He's currently available at Toys R Us online, and at some of their stores.  He's not in my local store, so I'm grateful to find him online.

Toys R Us and FAO are now one company.  That's why the FAO Uglydoll on the ToysRU website.

This happy guy is only 19.95 plus shipping.
Limit 2 per household.
Did I mention he's a Limited Edition! And you know how that makes my collectors heart sing!

The Fans Forum is Back!

After a near knock-out from a cyber attack, the Uglydoll Fans forum is back!  This is not the Official Uglydoll Fans Forum.  It's a separate, unofficial forum made by fans for fans of Uglydolls. Come join us, or come on back! U-Fan Forum

Uglydoll Party Supplies

Forget the party.  Just get me the party supplies!  Dr. Max Abima and I are heading out this evening with our shopping crew to fill our baskets with Uglydoll confetti, tattoos, cups, erasers, hats, containers, swirls, masks, awards and wristbands.

Nope. We're not having a party.  We ARE the party!

By the way, I may "adopt" the Uglydoll pinata, but don't even think about hitting it!

I'm getting these Ugly goodies from Party City in my local town, but you can get them online too if you don't have a Party City near you. Click here.

FAO Uglydog

Wow. Oh wow!

This is my favorite Uglydoll Limited Edition of the year!

Wild Max Unlimited

Max Abima likes to shop for his friends.  And one of his favorite places to browse is Wild Birds Unlimited.  They don't always know he's there.  Sometimes he stealth- shops from the comforts of his cloth bag, whispering in my ear.  Other times, he's out on the counter hob nobbing with the great staff and spreading his considerable charms. They are always kind to him and he appreciates that no one there has suggested he's a red devil.  When you're an Uglydoll with the I.Q. of Albert Einstein, the flare of Gertrude Stein, and the  conplexion of a ripe cherry tomato, how can life be anything but dazzling!

Ugly Party Time

Ok. Admittedly I am not a big partier.  Not even a little partier.  Truth is I run from parties, or duck behind protective covering.

But something amazing has tempted me from my loner ways.  Uglydoll party supplies.  Yep, they went and done it.  They made something so fun, so colorful, so totally UGLY that I am unable to resist the lure to dance and make merry.  I can see it now.  I'll be donning my pointy Uglydoll hat and serving up cake and punch from the world's happiest plates and cups.  Yes my friends will be worried about me, but they will be so deep in the Ugly they won't know what to do but endure the fun.

I never thought I'd say it, but let's party!!!

Halloween Fun

We like to have fun!

With Halloween around the corner, we're putting together some ideas for fun with costumes for our Uglys.  Back in the day, early Uglydoll fans made some amazing costumes and we hope to revive and carry on the tradition.

Thanks to Serial Nerd for rekindling the fires.

So whether you sew or shop, get your creative hat on and have some Ugly fun.  Share your pics with the Ugly Chronicles.
Here's a scary fellow saying Get out your Ugly Flag for Halloween.

Giant Robot Buttons UP!

Let's hear it for GIANT ROBOT webstore. Once again they ride to the rescue of this Uglydoll fan.  They have all the buttons and walked me through the process of getting a complete set at 1.00 each!

Here's what you do whether you want a few or all of them.

Click here.   Then when you get through the order process you'll see the comment section.  Tell them there which buttons you want and they will do their BEST to get you those buttons!

They are so friendly and helpful at GR.  Their cool factor is at least 1000!  Aaron helped me via email, and even lowered the weight of the buttons so that the shipping cost is affordable for a tiny item like this.
If you have any special needs for your order, I highly recommend the email contact.  They are prompt and go the extra mile.
Thanks to Aaron and Giant Robot I will soon be in possession of ALL the Ugly Buttons plus a few more to give friends.

UN Button It!

Ok Badgebomb.  UN Button It!  Let's have it.  Bring on the buttons. Roll em out.  The anticipation has reached uncharted territory.  (please?)

Uglydoll Buttons x 3 at Hot Topic

Uglydoll Buttons from Hot Topic.
These will not be part of the soon-to-be-released Uglydoll Buttons from Badgebomb. Nope. These are something else entirely.
And I have it on very good authority that they are strictly a Hot Topic item and will likely NOT show up in the Uglydoll store etc.  In fact, they are not even on the Hot Topic website.

Knowing some of my Uglydoll buddies are hurting for these buttons but do not live near a HT store, I went to the mall an bought the few they had. I plan to give these to my Uglydoll buddies and boardies who want them as much as I did, but can't get their hands on one.
So to my Ugly friend in Munich....guess what!!!! You're getting a button!

The crew at our Olympia WA Hot Topic is the best.  I called ahead and Mike had a nice pile of Uglydoll buttons for me when I went in.  Plus he let me rummage through  his cookie jar to find all the small Uglydoll pins. And he loves Uglys too!  Mike. You rock!

Win-Win

A Win-Win situation as Domo gives his back-up umbrella to his best buddy, Babo's Bird.

But where did Babo's Bird get those cool slippers?

Look Out Domo

Look out Domo!  I think Babo's Bird has his eye on your umbrella.  And Uglydolls have a way of getting what they want!

Thanks to my friend Ted for sending the pic.

Hat Wash Day

Hat Wash Day doesn't come around all that often, but sometimes the compass of cleanliness lands on your hat. When it's Fea Bea's turn our Ugly Stick becomes more of a Worry Stick.  He follows his hat along all day from soaking in the suddsie water to swinging in the warm, breezy air.  While we feel his angst at the separation from his beloved hat, we also admire his unwavering focus and patience during the drying process.
We found him sitting just inside with his eyes fixed on his hat as it hung on the porch to dry.  He never looks away.  We queried his Worry Stick side to hear his concerns. Squirrels. Birds. Bandits. Mad Hatters.
If that hat doesn't dry soon, we'll have to call in another Ugly Stick to give poor Fea Bea a couple of revitalizing raps to restore his happy.
Garden Wage hasn't left his side.  He says he can relate.

Trexi Inside the Box

I'm back.  I opened the box!  Always do.

Much to my surprise there was a two-sided 7.5 x 4.5 card inserted in the back of the box.  Big Noupa portrait on one side, and group scene on the other.  It's the coolest thing.  I'll be putting that between glass so I can flip at will to see either side.

Oh yeah. The Trexi's are awesome too. You can pivot the top half of heads to bring the battle damage face forward.

Trexi Noupa Battle Damage

Got a fun package in the mail today.  Trexi's!

This is a flashback item for me.  I saw it some years ago when I started collecting Noupa, but passed on it because I wanted to put my Noupa dollars in the big Noupa set.

Fortunately for me, Millo31 at the Uglydoll Forum posted a link to a few Trexi's that were still available...(but now gone. Sorry.)

I love the story behind Noupa. Noupa is in love.  His  girl is the leader of an underground movement to stop evil Security Monkey from global domination.   Together they save the world.

You know how I am about Uglydoll packaging.  Nothing has changed in that regard.  The box itself is  entertainment all on it's own.  Colorful David Horvath art peeks around every corner.
But there's more.  There's a philosophy that speaks to me.  The box top reads, "Forget violence...They are ready for that. Just stop listening to them.  They fear that the most.  Ooo la la!"

I am not alone.

The Sky is the Limit

The sky is the limit. Every Uglydoll knows that in the core of their being.
This is Earthtones and his friend, Earthdog. Earthtones came to us without his original apron. You would think that suffering such a huge loss would keep this Wage down. But no. He got busy designing his new apron and even updated it to include a pocket for his friend.
We then found the cute Wage graphic by David Horvath, cut it out and made a personalized  one-of-a-kind button for his apron.  Remember, if you find you've lost your apron do not despair.  The Sky is the Limit!

Watching for Updates

David Horvath recently moved his social media presence to Google+.  From SDCC he broadcasts Uglydoll updates and photos.

You can imagine the enthusiastic chanting of PLUS PLUS as they encourage Big Wage to roll his chair over to he computer to check David's updates.

Ten Spot, our Little Wage has his money tucked in his apron, hoping to spot a potential Ugly purchase.

The Jeero Twins

Our Jeero Twins are our newest family members.  They were taken on a tour of the their new home on the rolly cart.  Along the way they picked up an old friend, Pink Cinko.  It was a happy reunion. We can already tell these two will be a fun pair, and we love them to bits.

Coffee with Red Dave

Red Dave looked out the window at the fine spray of soft, steady rain. I thought he was feeling melancholy, but NO.  He loves the rain.

He then invited me to go sip and sketch at our local Barnes and Noble. Cozy Red Dave, a hot Americano, sketch pad, and summer rain.  It's a wonderful day.

Perhaps today he will tell me the origin of his name. Dave Darinko.  I love genealogy. Or is it Uglealogy?

The 99 Year Sleep Over

Through the years on the internet, my most treasured discovery has been Uglydolls and it's satellite community of collectors and fans.
The Uglydoll creators, Sun-min Kim and David Horvath possess a creative energy I still struggle to describe.  That energy does not remain static in their fluffy creations, but makes it's way out through their Uglydolls and into the world around them.  My theory is that it also has a magnetic property that pulls like-spirited individuals together to form a community that is kind, caring, and often quite generous.

To this spirit we owe our thanks for The 99 Year Sleep-Over Package.
Our dear  friend Wadie shared the Ugly love by surprising us with a treasure trove of Dunny's  and Kaiju you see in the photo.  Our three Wedgehead's handled the unpacking as we oohed and aahed with each unveiling.
We'd never seen most of these Dunny's, and likely never would have if not for this package.
Series 1 Two-Faced Dunny Set is in the box.  It's a stunner.
Peppered along the shelf is Series 2.  The two Dunny's on the far left at not Horvath creations, but came along for the adventure.
Then there is Mothman.  He's a GID Ohio River Type edition of 50 from Uglycon 1, and was on my "Most Desired" list for some time.
These wonderful new additions to our Ugly Shire will have a place of honor is our home and hearts.
THANK YOU WADIE!

Brip em

You know what to expect when you first meet an Uglydoll.  They'll be cute and charming and all in your business. That's a given.  Plus there's that delightful tag bio that's unique to each Ugly.  But it never ends there.  No. That's just the beginning.  There's always more.  Brip surprised me with his knowledge of roses.  We no longer clip em.  We Brip em.  This is an involved process that accesses the individual personality and needs of each rose.  The proof is in the picture!

We got this fellow from CSToys.

Green Backs and Fraps

This little fellow has a eye for green.  If it's green, he can find it.  Today he found a 10 dollar bill.  His buddy had a 2 for 1 coupon.  Together they came up with two large Caramel Frap's with plenty of change left for another day.

Moral of the story.  It's good to be green.  It's good to drink Frap's.  But best of all, it's good to have friends.

Bossy Bear Kaiju

Giant Robot is one of my favorite stores.  Here's why.   Not only was I able to order one of these outstandingly desirable Bossy Bear Kaiju's online, but Giant Robot is getting it SIGNED for me.  Here I am, living half way to nowhere, unable to attend anything remotely "kaiju cool".  But Giant Robot's got my back.  I will soon have in my possession the blue version called GLEE. (Far left in photo)  Why is he so Gleeful?  Because he's getting a David Horvath tatt!  And if we're lucky, Sun-min too!

Suddenly Suddy

Suddy's my girl.  We are alike in so many ways, and we knew it right out of the box.
You know how they say opposites attract?  Well compare that to the bond of twins.  That's what it's like for Suddy and me.
Our conversations consist mostly of "me too", "I know", and "exactly".
Hey, we even look so much alike that I can leave her in my chair by the window and people think I'm home! And in a way,  I AM!
Suddy and  Siddy, friends for life.

Get her here in all 4 Uglydoll sizes.
Or get her here. Or at your local toy shop.

Max Abima Food Explorer

Add Food Explorer to Dr. Max Abima's long list of credentials.  With the ease of one born to fine delectibles, Max lead us to the unassuming doorstep of i Sushi-Teriyaki in DuPont WA.

No, I protested.  I don't eat Sushi, and I eat teriyaki way to often.  But Max would not be deterred, so in we went.  From the moment we entered we were intrigued by the aromas, and  enamored with kindness of the staff,.

Before long Max and I were gazing down into a Chicken Hot Stone Pot. They are not kidding.  The pot is stone, and it is HOT.  It kept the food more than warm for the entire meal. Along side this pleasant mix of 5 vegetables and chicken was a sauce the color of Max.  The flavor was intoxicating.  Our new food friend turned out to be Korean Hot Sauce.  It was so tasty in fact that we returned for a second meal within 3 days with Max's little brother, Virgil.
Now can anyone tell me how to make Korean Hot Sauce?  Mamma pajama, that stuff rocks.

Bossy Bear Toxic Swamp Edition GID

So fine!  So MINE!

Get it here at Toy2r Qee Store.

Limited to 200 pieces.

Thanks for the heads up, Hilda!

Brad Luck Limited

Nothing catches my collectors eye quite like the words "Limited and Numbered".  Well, ok. "Handmade" sends me into fits like Precious Pup.

But here we have the magic words!  Brad Luck Limited and Numbered.  Dear me.  Part of my mental landscape is now captured by Mr. Brad and his numbered self and I won't get that piece back until I secure me a numbered Brad.  Yep.  That's it.  I'm down a few brain cells.

And right at the time I need them ALL to hunt down my LUCK!

I love it.

UPDATE:  My Ugly buddies over at Uglydoll Fan Forum tell me he is already shipping, and that ALL the new Brad Luck's have the shiny foil hang tag that dazzles my eye.   So yippie.  My wait is almost over!

Just think. The entire Citizens series is numbered and limited.  Oh yeah!

Bottle It! Ugly Style

"You have a little drinky on your thinky". David Horvath

Yes indeed.

I thought my Uglydoll ensemble was complete.  (See previous post).
But I was pleasantly surprised to see how wrong I was!  I was missing my Big Toe drinky bottle!

At last, something to slip into my mesh water bottle holder than can dance and sing!

When I have the slightest bit more info on this, I will post it for sure.

Bag It! Ugly Style

Uglydolls got my back!  I'm not sure which of these four fantastic choices I will pick first. No doubt I'll have more than one. OK.  It's Big Toe first. No. Black Ninja Batty Shogun will be not show the dirt I seem to run into wherever I go.  But ah.  That Blue!  That Pink!  And OX!

My buddy, Dr. Max Abima has been wishing for better travel accommodations.  So with Max loaded  in the bag I can throw on my Ugly Hat, black Ugly hoodie, pin on my Ugly buttons, check the time on my Big Toe watch and strike out into the word with my Ugly flag proudly flying.  Wait.  Where is my Ugly flag?

Button It! Ugly Style

I just got a peek at more of the upcoming goodies from Uglydoll and it looks like David and Sun-min ripped the top right off my wish list.
Uglydoll Buttons!  I wanted these since day one.  I have 5 lonely Bossy Bear buttons who will soon see some relief buttons riding in to take the wear and tear off them.

The buttons are made by Badge Bomb, a world class button making establishment without equal.  My opinion.  Natually Uglydolls sought them out to make the cadillac of buttons...The Ugly Button!!!!

The roar starts in the upper left hand corner with the one eye and just keeps rolling until it reaches the Uglyworm where the fun starts all over again.

And who's hand could that be reaching for that cookie???  Wadie, do you know where you Babo's are?

I developed a fever looking at all the awesome, delectable, collectible, Ugly coming our way this year.  I need to go find my Ice-Bat and chill.
Check back soon.  Your eyes will spin when you see what else is in store for us.

Uglydoll Tin Future Cars

I
I'm so excited about these upcoming Uglydoll Tin Future Cars that I can hardly type.  Look at those lines, the retro curves and colors. I see my beloved Wedgehead at the wheel of the black and white.

Uglydoll and Schylling team up again, and what a team they are!  I love ALL the Uglydoll tin toys from Schylling.  I'm sure these will be just as wonderful.

I can hardly wait for more close-up photos along with other angles.

These are extraordinary!  Go Uglydoll Go!

Uglydoll Movie! Wippy's Dream Come True

Did you just see Wippy dashing past?  Wait Wippy! Where are you going in such a hurry?

He told me he was VERY excited about the new Uglydoll Animated full feature film and was in a GIANT hurry to see it. I was able to distract him just enough to tell him that Illuminations Entertainment is just in the early stages of the project, but if he'll come back home I'll rent him Despicable Me. He was ok with that but be forewarned.  Do not get between Wippy and his front row seat at the Uglydoll screening. You could get hurt. He has the legs of a thundering bison.

Brad Luck

Do you have Brad Luck?

I don't have Brad Luck myself.  But I fully intend to.

He's up for pre-order on the Uglydoll website.

Citizens of the Uglyverse are climbing into the staging area and getting ready to join their new families.  Brad Luck is Citizen #1, an auspicious position to hold.

The Citizens are about 10" tall, give or take.  Along with the "middle" size comes the middle price tag of only 15.00 dollars. That's only 1.50 per inch for what may very well be your best friend and pal for life.  VERY reasonably priced.

Here's his bio written by David Horvath: Brad is one lucky guy. Well for starters you’re reading his tag. What a lucky break! The next thing you know, you guys will be sitting across from each other sending text messages to other people far away, just like they do in the movies! Horray for Hollywood! He’s also lucky because you know how silly that sounds.

Hey Brad.  I have a seat saved for you at Starbucks.  We'll settle in and do some power texting as soon as you get here.  Until then, here's my first text message to you...."Take your time, but hurry.  I can hardly wait to meet you!"

Ugly Shire Spring

White Cat and Humphrey are Wedgehead's in charge of our Ugly Communications Center.  Tracking and reporting  the weather is one of the many functions they enjoy.  One of the can often be heard calling out the current temperature indoors and out.  Today Humphrey said in a voice loud and proud, "66 over 62"!  Our weather has been so cool that we all rushed to the Comm Center to see the display.  There is was.  66 degrees outside!  Humphrey and White Cat are never wrong. With them, precision is an art.

The Day With Dave

Who's that handsome fellow wonders Dave as he looks on the web.

Dave Heads to Work

On such a wet and chilly day, Dave Darinko knew he was needed at the office.  His personal brand of glowing enthusiasm is pure sunshine.  So he  donned his best red bow and waited by the door.  Big Wage gave him 2.00 for lunch, a 100% increase over the 1.00 he usually issues.   We're not sure if this is due to Dave's double appetite or inflation.

We're certain Dave will be a bright spot amidst inclement weather.  It's just in his nature.

Need some sunshine in your day?  Adopt your own Dave over here at the Uglydoll Store.  He comes in 4 sizes and two colors: gray or red. With prices ranging from 6.00 to 40.00, there is a Dave for every space and budget.
Rumor has it our family will soon adopt a Little Red Dave.
