Our Ugly family grew by a few on Christmas. We welcomed Ket at Night, White Flocked Bossy Bear, Roller the Reindeer with eyes closed, and Jrumpy!
I was expecting Jrumpy. He's all I asked for, so I thought for sure he'd come. But Ket at Night was a very very nice surprise.
I have a shelf waiting for Roller where he will stand next to my other two Rollers.
But now that White Bossy. He's no ordinary vinyl. He's demanding a shelf of his own.
Welcome from the Ugly Shire!

Nothing to Fear
This is my newest Sun-Min and David art. It may be small at about the size of a large recipe card, but it is large in every other way.
The cheery pink background draws the eye in from half way across the room. As you get closer, the adorable Babo and Wage are waiting with an important and often overlooked message in todays world: Nothing to Fear.
The result of a close-up encounter with this piece is a lighthearted optimism that is highly contagious. It's already infected a half dozen people! I'll have to look around the edges of the frame for a "happy warning" label.
I don't know if it's a laser print, or what kind of paper it is, or any of the things people will ask me. It came in the little frame and is signed by Sun-Min and David and numbered 1/1. That's the extent of the technical data I have.
Less than five minutes after getting some unexpected Christmas cash I purchased it! Thanks you to all the forces that made this possible: David, Sun-Min, and the generosity of my friends.
It makes an interesting tree-topper. Ice Bat surrendered the space like a gentleman, but he'll be back! He's a natural-born star.

Basheeshee
Big Toe must be thrilled. In January 2011 he will have a brother. Basheeshee!
I see the family resemblance in the nose, but Basheeshee has a nose shape unlike any Uglydoll I've seen. Unique among Uglys.
I love the lines and curves, and the yellow teeth and blue body.
I have to wonder if Basheeshee is also related to Trunko.
Anyone else see it?

Power Mister 12-11-10.....
My eyes are still spinning from the ferocious wave of colors. From his sun-hot feet to his cool blue head, he means business. What business, I don't know. But I can see he's serious, and he has my full attention.
He's coming from Super7 Saturday, December 11th.
You know me and numbers. That's 12-11-10. What a great number! I'm sure there is some deeper meaning there...hum....
It's like a countdown to Power!

Sunny Snowflake
This little girl almost missed the pageant. We could not find her tiara and she didn't want to go without it.
A family effort with the help of our Secret Mission Uglydoll Unit recovered it just in time.
We call her Sunny Snowflake. And today she's the Princess of all Uglydom.
Adopt your own princess here.
Thanks to Chabot for inspiring us with the Uglydoll Supermodel contest.

Babo's Cookie Problem
And I didn't even know Babo had a cookie problem. I'm very intrigued and hope that Santa is reading my blog and will give me a gift certificate to pick this up February 22, 2011. I even like that date 2-22-11. I'm into odd numbers.
This looks like another fuzzy book from Uglydoll, but hard to tell from the photo. If it is, then it's a tactile pleasure with its plush, soft material cover. How many books can you enjoy without having to READ them? Ok. One is Chilly Chilly Ice Bat.
I'm sure these will be widely available, but here's a link to it at Amazon.
Don't worry Babo. Whatever your cookie problem is, we are here to solve it. You can count on us. And we can ALL count on this being a fabulous book full of adorable art, amusing story line, and fun galore. It's the Uglydoll way!

Here's our boy Ollie Ox. Let's hope the food police don't get wind of him.

Super Puncher in White
The first time I saw a Super Puncher was in photo of the Uglycon at Stitch in Japan. He was a transparent looking red fellow, though I've never seen one in person. Having not been able to snag one, I'm always on the lookout. Horvath x Gargamel!
Look what I just found! A white somewhat transparent looking Super Puncher! Amazingly, he's available at Super7 online store at retail. Imagine me getting something cool and collectible at retail! He was a mere 20.00 plush shipping. Ha ha, I mean plus shipping. I DO have plush on the brain.
They still have a few! Here's the link to the Puncher.
Or poke around the Gargamel website in Japan.
And the link to the Super7 store.

Roller the Reindeer rolls into town.
Uglydoll and Toy2r did it again! They came together to create one of the best vinyl toys I've ever seen. I knew he'd be great, but he is more than great. He's superb! Really!
Not kidding, the first word out of most people's mouths is "brilliant".
It's David Horvath. He's brilliant. He may not want to be brilliant, but sorry Dave! You are. Roller just brings it home again.
Roller's overbite makes me smile so wide my face hurts. His expression makes you watch him and wonder what his next move will be. So far, he's just stood there looking at the vastness of Ugly in our house. Maybe he thinks he's back in the Ugly warehouse. But nope, Roller, you are home! And our home is just that Ugly!
And again the box is almost as entertaining as the item it contains. Again I say brilliant! I promise to soon learn a few new descriptive words.
Pictured on left is the Toy2r Tee Version of Roller
On the right the Standard Version.

Happy Thanksgiving
Fea Bea says "Happy Thanksgiving Pilgrim, from all our Ugly Family to yours". (Feabs has been watching a lot of John Wayne lately.)
We had a contest to choose who would wear the Pilgrim Hat and represent our family for the day. It was a tough call. Dozens tried out. Our three finalists were Uglyworm, Glowbee (Critterbox GID Ice-bat), and Fea Bea. Ice-bats natural charm and good looks nearly nailed it, but Fea Bea's enthusiasm and riveting John Wayne imitation hauled in the win.
Hope your Thanksgiving was filled with friends, good food and snacks, happy Uglydolls, and love. But if you'd like to be just a little happier....hit yourself with the Ugly Stick! Works every time.

Be Prepared
Curiosity got the best of me when I found our Malcolm Wage outside, a serious look on his face, and standing in a large rubber shoe. When asked he was very forthcoming. Malcolm kept saying "teens are coming, teens are coming". I soon figured he did not mean an onslaught of young friends, but rather that it is getting cold.
As our Safety Officer it is his responsibility to keep us prepared for any and all situations. His weather radio told him we are a weekend away from unusually cold weather for our area. Sixteen degrees!
That explains his outdoor inspection of the house, and list of To Do items: Hose bibs, extra snacks, weather stripping, batteries, thermal clothing, extra snacks, mulch plants, buy rock salt, extra snacks, etc.
With his money pouch in hand, he and I are off to buy supplies. I'm sure we'll make some new friends while we're out there. Wage is an ambassador wherever he goes. And everyone walks away just a bit more prepared than when they met him.

When Your Best Friend's A Pillow
When your best friends a pillow, life get's a little more interesting. Some people do a double-take, others may stare, or giggle. And there are those who just smile sweetly with the knowledge that true friendship transcends all differences.
Picksey didn't see a sofa accessory when we opened the box. He saw good conversation, and open heart, and a capacity to snuggle. Though they look quite different, they are inseparable buddies on their journey through life. And Picksey never longs for a soft spot to rest his head. Uglypillow is always ready.
May we all be so lucky as to find a true best friend!

No Fly. No Way.
Like so many of our friends, we've decided to opt out of of air travel. No radiation, no pat down, no thanks.
So Sidd and Syndey are almost on the road again. Our current plan is Utah. As you can see from the photo, Sydney is one happy Wedgehead. He loves to see the sites, go eye to eye with people, and taste the regional goodies along the way.
He looks forward to car travel, reading a map, exploring strange roadside exhibits, alien landing sights, combs and tooth brushes 4 times his height, the worlds largest reptile collection, meteor craters, or dinosaur bones. He wants to visit Wall Drug, and to understand why the Canyon is Grand. Go rock hounding.
This little fellow will not miss air travel one little bit, and neither will I. But air travel will miss us!

Flatwoodsey FAO Exclusive
Oh wow. An FAO Exclusive Flatwoodsey in RED! I had no clue this guy was coming. Thanks to JC on the Ugly forum for letting us know!
I pre-ordered mine today with an estimated ship date of Nov 19th.
He was 24.99 with a bit over 5.00 in shipping plus tax.
This fellow is the Classic Uglydoll size of about 14". Flatwoodsey tends to be one of the taller Uglys due to his natural candy-drop top. He often can't squeeze onto a shelf with my other Classic Uglys, so he gets to stand in a more prominent spot and be admired. Height advantage: Flatwoodsey.

Jrumpy gives a Jrump-Start
We've been a little under the weather in the Ugly Shire for the last week or more. Seeing the news that Jrumpy is in the Uglydoll warehouse and nearly ready to begin his journey out in the the world Jrump-started me! How can you not feel invigorated looking at that face and knowing he will soon be sharing his special, soft Uglydoll essence with families and friends.
Here's one Ugly fan waiting with open arms to welcome our newest Uglydoll. Jrumpy, your chocolate milk awaits you. Gallons of it.

Mr. Ree Takes a Trip, Almost
Look who we found out by the mailbox! It's Mr. Ree. When we asked him what he was doing, he said he was waiting for Cliff, our mailman. We asked him why.
He said he was going to see Auntie Grace!
But Mr. Ree, she lives so far away. We would miss you so much. And it's raining!
After some hugs and candy he agreed to come back to the house and just say Happy Halloween to Auntie Grace via the magic screen. Happy Halloween!
We think his adventuresome nature may be behind his mysterious arrival in our home. We're still trying to figure out how and when he came to live with us.
If you ever hear an little scratch and tap at your door, be sure to check for Mr. Ree.

Yellow Uglydog
We welcomed Yellow Uglydog into our family today. He's a dog of a different color! In person, he's a more vivid yellow with a slight tint of green. His soft blue eye just melts us like butter. And red teeth!
This guy is a one-of-a-kind handmade Uglydoll by Sun-min Kim and is from Uglycon 2 that took place at Giant Robot San Francisco in 2007. There were two handmade Uglydogs in that show. The other fellow was blue with a red eye.
I saw this Uglydog's photo two years ago in a forum thread and commented on how amazing I felt he was. Little did I know he would be with me someday, but I did wish and dream!
In the photo with him are a pair of Wedgehead's you may be familiar with. It's our trusty mail crew White Cat and Humphrey who regularly appear in photos orienting new family members to their surroundings.
My sincerest thanks to my Ugly friends who made this adoption possible! And a very big thank you to his other Mommie who took such loving care of him.
Oh, and then there are the amazing creators....thanks Sun-min and David!

Bearbrick Babo and Trucko
Smokin!!! And in a good way.
Two new Uglydoll Bearbricks have made their way to the front of the line.
Babo and Trunko.
Look out. It's a frenzy of color. They look like they're about to launch into a snappy dance routine. I suggest a classic like the Hammer Dance.
Pink Trunko made the transition to Beabrick in fine style. His nose is adorable.

It's a Mystery
MartyKat may be an Uglydoll of the Gato Deluxe variety, but he's also pure cat and ... curious.
Last night he took to the shadows and went to the Big Room to see what his friends were up to. He was stopped in his tracks by something completely unexpected. ANOTHER Gato Deluxe. MartyKat does not know where this new fellow came from....and neither do we! Seriously! But there he was, standing amongst MartyKats friends like he belongs.
We thought he was MartyKat, seen in the left of photo. Nope. Far from it. The mystery fellow could be Gato Super Deluxe from his plump and ample stature. Everyone is talking about it today.
Where DID he come from?
The new guy's not talking. He likes the attention. We named him Mr. Ree.

Rain? No problem.
It takes more than inclement weather to keep an Uglydoll like Dr. Max Abima from making his rounds.
Today he popped into his rain slicker and headed to the Starbuck's Drive-Thru. Max didn't even have to say a word. Just one look from him and the Starbuck's staff was laughing. Like most Uglys, he has personality that can light up a room. It's in the genes.
When we told the SB staff that Max was paying for our drinks, they spoke to him directly and called him a real gentleman. How true!
I'm sure they were extra pleased that Max tips well.

Steven the Bat
Dr. Max Abima is a patron of the arts. His taste runs wide, but he has a special love of vinyl, and particularly the art of David Horvath (big surprise there), Le Merde, and Bwana Spoons.
Max's collection is growing and his newest piece is a gorgeous Mini Steven the Bat with green glitter! We'll try for a better pic later, but Max was so excited to share he couldn't wait.
Max picked this piece up on the Super7 webstore right here.

Gifts for Halloween
Ugly Chronicles Halloween Gift suggestions are unsurprisingly Uglydoll!
How could you go wrong with an Icebat in the traditional colors of Halloween! Sometimes called Secret Mission Icebat, these fine fellows made their way from the Limited Edition Secret Mission group into the regular retail Uglydoll line-up. Plus they come in clip-on size for about 6.00 and two foot size as well. That is happy news for those of you who want to get or give one for Halloween!
In this photo on the left we have Super7 Icebat, then two Little Icebat's with different teeth, then we have a regular Classic Icebat in his Halloween costume. Guess who he's dressed up as? Super7 Icebat! We call this fellow Super6.5.
Super7 Icebat is a Limited Edition Uglydoll from years gone by, exclusive to the Super7 store. There were only 75 made. He can be costly in today's collectors market. BUT, you can dress up your Black Icebat like Super6.5 with a modest amount of cash and sewing skill. Just make the cape and tie. That's it.
Super7 has a tag in his cape that says....Super7, but for a costume you don't need that!
Hey, make yourself an orange cape, add a bat mask and go trick or treat with your Icebat as twins!
If I could afford it, I would get a box of Clip-on Uglydolls and give them out for Halloween instead of candy. Can you image how much fun that would be for both the trick or treater and myself!
This is what I'm getting from my family for Halloween! Here's the link if you want one.

Happy Uglyworm Day
We're a bit late on the photo, but we still send our biggest wish for a Happy Uglyworm Day.
Offically, this would be Sept 22. But Uglyworms move in their own time zone. You know. UTC=Uglyworm Time Continuum.

Uglydoll Pillows
Big Toe Uglypillow |
Ox Uglypillow |
Trunko Uglypilow |
Being an ample 14" x 14" this is no foo-foo pillow, no tiny whisper of softness, no hint of color hiding in the corner. This is a full on, soft and fluffy, major presence ready to go face to face with anyone. Once I get my hands, or rather head on one of these I'll be right back to share the wonder with you.
Ice-bat Uglypillow...sure to be super popular! |

My Uglydolls love all the seasons and know just how to prepare and enjoy.
I see my Uglys are not the only ones! Here an adorable Wage glows with happiness with his Autumn flowers. Just looking at him makes me smile. Everyone have a happy Autumn!
Special thanks to MAPow/MaryAnne for her permission to share her Flickr photo entitled "Sunsies".

Jrumpy Hits the Road
He's on his way. I can feel it. He's hit the road.
Jrumpy is coming!
After a couple of phone calls I can say with confidence he will be available on or around Dec. 1st.
I don't know how he will get to my house. Maybe he'll hitch ride on a sleigh, or drop off a hot air balloon.
But I can tell by his expression that nothing will stop him. He owns the road.
Remember, Jrumpy, take I-5 North and ask for the Ugly Shire. Everyone knows where we are!
Take your time....but hurry!!!!!

The Ugly Report for October
Uglydoll Action Figure Series 3 is done and ready for Toy Fair.
AND...there is an entirely new plastic based Uglydoll line in the works! Source: Davids' Uglyblog.
The possibilities are endless on what David could be referring to, but that does not stop me from trying to imagine what it could be! My latest guess...Ugly rockets!
New York Comicon came and went (today is the last day) without much fanfare that I could detect online. This seemed odd to me, and in contrast to the excitement of SDCC where people were busy planning how to get an item, a sketch, an autograph, or a mule for the event. I don't think David and Sun-Min went to NYCC, so that would definitely contribute to a quieter Ugly fan group. Someone let me know if I'm wrong about that.
I've been asked about NYCC exclusives. It's the adorable Uglycorn from SDCC! That will also be the Ugly Exclusive plush at Singapore this year. The Uglycorn is a Limited Edition, but I'm still searching for info as to how many there are!
And get this! There will be a special Medicom x Uglydoll Bearbrick Exclusive at Singapore Toy Fair. Who will join Icebat, Ox, Wage trio?? I haven't a clue. They'll be the Mod Quad! Source: video interview with Alita of Uglydoll.
What I'm sure of with all certainty is that Uglydoll has wonderful surprises in store for us. How many times have they left me saying, wow, that was a dud. Zero! Yep, 0% of the time.
That leaves an astonishing record of 100% excellence. So I'm ready and waiting for whatever is around the corner for the Ugly fan!
Check back soon for some pics my new Uglydoll Tin and Uglybot! So cool!
Thanks to a wonderful Uglydoll friend, Noella, for the Wage Sticker pictured above.
Sticker is 3x4 inches.

An Ugly Halloween
Boo!
Are you scared????
Ok, it's only Max getting ready for Halloween.
Our Uglydolls love costumes. Max had at least 7 costumes picked out for last year. This is one of them. He wanted to post this pic in May, but I made him wait till October. It wasn't easy. He's not Dr. Patience.
We'll be back throughout the month with other Ugly Halloween pics. Maybe from some of our Ugly Forum and Flickr friends too.
Stay tuned, and get your Ugly on for Halloween!

The Case of the Missing Coffee
What happened to my coffee? Gone again. And I didn't drink it. So who did? Clearly a case for sophisticated intellect to solve.
Normally this would be a job for Dr. Max Abima who can trace his lineage directly back to Sherlock Holmes. When he puts on his detective hat, scamps head for the hills.
Unforunately.......Max took a three-tiered fall this weekend. (He'll be fine. More on this later)
With Max busy on the mend, who do we call?
The Kasoogi's of course! With their scientific minds and innate curiosity they will get to the bottom of this in a jiffy.
They jumped at the opportunity and built a camouflaged stakeout. Here we see them watching, but barely.
They put out of cup of java and waited. Soon the culprits took the bait and made off for parts unknown. The Kasoogi's pursued and found the pair kicked back in their lair. (It was decaf).
Guilty! But forgiven.

Ice-bat's Winter Hat
Winter is coming, and this tiny Ice-bat is ready. Ice-bat's are known to enjoy the cold, but also appreciate a snappy looking hat.
He's obviously loved and well cared for!
This is one of my favorite Uglydoll photos. Thanks to guerillalover on Flickr for taking this great pic, and giving us permission to share it with you.

This little fellow is a Clip-on Uglydoll Ice-Bat. You can have your very own from the Official Uglydoll Store. He's a friend for life!

Staying Up Late with Wage
When Mindi Wage wants to stay up late, we stay up late! He has an infectious enthusiasm for late night radio, story-telling, or reading a good book out loud.
He's very fond of turning off the lights and bringing a flashlight to bed. Everyone huddles together as faces take on a special glow, as do imaginations!
Try it sometime.
